About Puma Darts

Founded in 1970 in Katikati, New Zealand, Puma Darts is a family-owned company with a long-standing legacy in dart manufacturing. After the passing of founder John McCormick, the company remains in family hands, now led by his daughter Julie Carson (marketing) and son Peter McCormick (managing director).

Puma Darts has always maintained strong ties with the New Zealand Darts Council (NZDC), with John McCormick serving as patron – a role now carried on by Peter. Since 1999, Puma has proudly sponsored the WDF World Cup of Darts.

All product development and most manufacturing still take place at Puma’s Katikati headquarters, with only a few components sourced through trusted partners in China and Taiwan. Their production is powered by precision-engineered machinery designed in-house.

Initially serving only New Zealand and Australia, Puma Darts now exports to over 70 countries worldwide. The brand offers a full range of darting products, including dartboards, steel and soft-tip darts, cases, and accessories.

In 2009, Puma launched its high-performance line, Shot!, aimed at advanced players and expanding into the USA and European markets. Due to trademark restrictions, Shot! is used instead of the Puma name in regions where the Puma sportswear brand is dominant. Shot! products are also designed and manufactured in New Zealand and endorsed by pro players such as Matt “Superman” Clark.

Puma Darts continues to sponsor top players from Australia, New Zealand, Asia, and beyond – including Scott Mackenzie, who represented Hong Kong at the 2011 PDC World Championship.
